Financial Literacy Workshop a Good Time for All

In December, the SLC was pleased to hold a Financial Literacy Workshop for the Suffolk community. All were welcome.

Our Leader, Leigh Anne Parks led the group through the basics of identifying current resources, creating a budget from scratch on MSExcel (thank you to the Workforce Development Center for donating their Computer Lab), and thinking beyond today.

The topic was Finding the Money for Christmas. The attendees became involved in long-range thinking and shared among each other sound advice for specific monetary pitfalls. Difficulties discussed ranged from how to get free of credit card debt and loans from independent companies to the risks and benefit of purchasing a home. The UP Center graciously extended the process by inviting our attendees for one-on-one financial counseling.

It was a definite do-again!
