This is the second year we have sponsored a Summer Camp for our students.  Once a week for six weeks, the students come to learn about important subjects in addition to reading skills.  Averaging 12 students for each session, they learned about Martin Luther King, Jr., his life and work, the US legislature, constitutional rights, By-Laws, voting rights, US history and community leaders among other things.  Our guest speakers included Kerry Holmes and Nathan Richardson.  The six-week sessions were taught by Janet Gurwell, Don Wittenauer, Jess Reitz and Wanda Olden.  Board members who attended included Linda Drummond, Hyler Scott, Faye Sobel, Ernie Sulski, and Lisa Cross.  On the last day, we had lunch provided by the Chic-Fil-A company and handed out by its famous Cow!   This camp was such a success that we are already making plans for next summer's camp.

Student "I Have a Dream" speeches were thoughtful and well written.
Community Volunteers and Board members participated, too.
