SLC Awarded Suffolk 60 Care Grant

SLC AWARDED SUFFOLK 60 CARE GRANT
 
The Suffolk Literacy Council has been awarded a grant for $2,400 from Suffolk 60 Care to expand our adult tutoring program. Suffolk 60 Care is made up of a group of motivated individuals who care about people living in Suffolk and assist organizations in need by volunteering and raising funds to donate to them. They award money raised to organizations whose needs align with one or more of their objectives of improving diversity, education, poverty intervention, family preservation, and health. The SLC is very pleased to have been selected to receive a grant from this group that acts as a catalyst for positive changes in our community.
 
OTHER RECENT GRANTS RECEIVED
 
Virginia Literacy Foundation ($5,000)
The Virginia Literacy Foundation provides funding to support private volunteer literacy organizations throughout Virginia.  An emphasis is on K – 4th grade level adult readers with one-on-one instruction and tutoring.
 
Pruden Foundation ($5,000)
The Pruden Foundation supports projects that benefit the Suffolk community.
